There is nothing more annoying than a friendly person who is also not quite up to speed and keeps you waiting. However, I would much prefer, polite and professional with 100% focus and attention to details and, 100% accuracy in any information or advice given to guests. Some reviewers have mentioned the 'churlish' attitude of staff and this is a little harsh as I found all of them to be friendly, having said that, at this level of 'luxury' we expect staff to be friendly instead of unfriendly.
If you remove the huge Hilton sign, you would swear that it is a medical centre (see photos).
The tweaks required: On approaching the hotel you can easily get the feel that the building is a hospital when the staff greet you in white uniforms which are cut like medical uniforms that and the choice of external decor, feels like a hospital. The positives: You get a large room, with a big flat screen TV, good facilities, excellent ocean views above the 3rd floor, good breakfast and the location is excellent for walks along the beaches.
With some minor management tweaks, it could have received an excellent rating. The Hilton Barbados is a good luxury hotel and it scores high enough for me to recommend it and use it again.
